Nutrition with Exercise Consultation
Diet has always played a vital role in
supporting health. Foods provide energy and nutrients which
support growth, maintenance, and repair of the human bodys
tissue. Macronutrients comprise of carbohydrates, fats, and
protein. They provide the body with energy for tissue growth
and maintenance. Micronutrients contain vitamins, minerals,
antioxidants, and trace elements. They do not provide any
calories, but are essential in small amounts for cellular
and metabolic activities, including the expression of enzyme
activities and the function of essential molecules. Natural
Nonnutrients like phytochemicals and dietary fiber are food
chemicals found in plants. They perform important functions
in the body and are necessary to support good health because
they can prevent illness from occurring and restore
homeostasis in the body. A lifestyle that includes nutrients
and nonnutrients reaps the benefits of optimum health.
Physical activity can enhance ones overall health and
wellness. Our bodies are meant to be mobile rather than
immobile. Regular exercise can result in physiological and
psychological benefits. It reduces the risk of heart
disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity and boosts the immune
systems defenses. It also reduces stress and tensions,
regulates breathing rhythms and emotional disposition, and
increases self-awareness. Research indicates that chronic
physical health and mental health diseases continue to rise
at a steady pace in the U.S. Good nutrition and physical
activity empower people to live a healthy lifestyle and
prevent chronic diseases from becoming prevalent in our
nation.
What is Nutrition with Exercise Consultation?
Nutrition with exercise consultation is a kind of assessment
that analyzes diverse health requirements in regard to diet,
supplementation and exercise. It is meant to assist people
in obtaining good health by educating them and showing them
how to set and achieve realistic health goals. It entails
assessing ones health status by interviewing the client,
administering questionnaires and possible lab panels,
recommending specific nutrition and exercise treatments
(ex.- food and exercise diaries, diet plans, nutritional
supplements, literature, nutrition/cook workshops), and
evaluating the effectiveness of the treatments to determine
whether health status is improving or revisions need to be
made. Various methods are conducted for evaluation such as:
consulting the client, pre/post-test surveys, evaluating
food/exercise diaries and possible lab panels.
