JILL
T. BUTTERFIELD, MS, ATRL-BC
Licensed
Psychotherapist
Board Certified Art Therapist
Practice
Philosophy
“My philosophy is based on treating the whole person. I use a
combined approach of blending traditional psychotherapy with creative
expressive art modalities. As an art therapist, I can invite my
client’s subconscious images, ideas and emotions to enter a conscious
space through the creation of art, in order to assimilate and to promote
the wholeness of their mind, body and
spirit”.
Areas
of Expertise
Jill has expertise in working with children and adolescents who have
experienced physical, emotional and sexual abuse and trauma. Her
specializations include oppositional defiance, anxiety, depressive, and
mood disorders, as well as, serious health conditions, divorce and
bereavement issues. Art therapy is a powerful therapeutic tool
that uses creative strategies to help children express their thoughts
and feelings they may not be able to otherwise verbalize.
With
adults, Jill focuses on stress reduction, balancing the multiple
personal, family, professional and health priorities. She treats
those working through traumatic childhood events, as well as those on
their journey for spiritual growth, connection and insight. Her
treatment is holistic, combining elements of mind, body and spirit which
are important life elements from both her Native American and Christian
heritage.
