Dr. Lori L. Pyter

You, or your child, have been referred for a psychological evaluation and the following information is being provided to help you understand this service and how it can benefit you.

An integrated, comprehensive assessment is vital to an accurate understanding of an individuals functioning as well as their potential. A quality evaluation leads to a more focused and collaborative relationship with your treatment provider or therapist, and more specific and efficient recommendations. Just as if you visited a physician and were told there was a problem, you would want more information about how best to treat that condition. A psychological evaluation works the same way, providing you with detailed information, a synthesized view, as well as realistic goals and potential for the future.

An evaluation can include an assessment in some of the following areas; however, each evaluation is individualized to the client’s needs and specific questions.

  • Emotional & Behavioral Functioning

  • Intellectual Strengths & Challenges

  • Achievement / Learning Style

  • Social Skills & Style

  • Personality

  • Organizational Skills and Flexibility

  • Parenting Strategies
  • Attention & Concentration
  • Skills
  • Visual-Spatial / Motor
  • Functioning
  • Information Processing
  • Memory Functioning

Evaluation results will be used to identify your strengths and weaknesses, prioritize your treatment strategies, and develop a highly tailored plan that is the most effective and efficient for you. This information expedites treatment and keeps the process focused and organized.

An evaluation involves several steps including an initial meeting with Dr. Pyter during which developmental and historical information is gathered and you have the opportunity to share your thoughts, concerns and perspectives. Secondly, the evaluation itself is conducted and finally a feedback session is held to review the results and discuss ways to put the plan into action. The results will be documented for you in a detailed and comprehensive report.

Dr. Lori Pyter specializes in providing thorough psychological evaluations for children, adolescents and adults.
